Warlingham Green Improvements set to go in this Summer

After years of work to agree, design and obtain funding for the Green Improvement Scheme Warlingham Parish Council’s Project Steering Committee has finally been able to approve a Construction Agreement with Surrey County Council to install the new pavements, crossings and other improvements this Summer.
Following the appointment of Surrey to deliver the Scheme in April 2023, detailed design work has been undertaken to specify all the details, including the exact materials, dimensions and positioning of the new crossing points and re-laid pavements, as well as new signage, street furniture and parking arrangements. And lengthy investigations and discussions have taken place to identify and obtain the necessary consents from all interested parties. One major change had to be made from the high level design, with yorkstone being replaced by coloured paving blocks for the new pavements, as yorkstone is running out and Surrey can’t guarantee to be able to maintain it.
Cllr Simon Morrow, Chair of the Steering Committee, said: “I am delighted that we have finally agreed all the details with Surrey and that it can all be delivered with the funding available. The work should be done this Summer, avoiding Village events and when traffic is at its lightest”.
