New Term for New Youth Club

The Caterham, Chaldon & Whyteleafe Youth Club has now been running for a term – and is already proving to be a huge success for local young people.
- Professionally run by the YMCA
- Funded by the four Parish Councils alongside other local organisations
- Based at St John’s Church Hall, refurbished with funds from county councillors’ pots
You can read about the opening here: New Youth Club Open for All.
Caterham Valley Parish Council Chair – and Liberal Democrat candidate – Tony Pearce has seen the benefits first-hand, both as a councillor and as a parent:
“This is one of the most important things that has been achieved for our community in recent times. It has already got off to a fantastic start. We need to build on this to make sure it benefits as many young people as possible.”
The focus now is on making sure all four parishes can take advantage of what the club offers. Former County Councillor and Youth Club Trustee Jeffrey Gray explained:
“That’s why many of you will have seen us at the Whyteleafe Fun Day in June and the Chaldon Fete in August. And that’s why we will be discussing safe transport options at our next meeting. If people from across the four parishes want to go, we will get them there!”
This is a cross-party venture – but one the Liberal Democrat team are proud to have backed from the start. Supporting opportunities for young people, and ensuring they have safe, positive spaces in our community, will remain a priority.
A by-election will now be held in Whyteleafe, where local campaigner Tony Pearce is standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate. Backing Tony means backing practical, community-focused projects like this one.
