Tandridge Council must focus on Community Priorities say LibDems
15 Jan 2026
In less than two years’ time local government will be reformed and Tandridge District Council will no longer exist, so it has set aside its plan to reorganise. This has freed up reserves which LibDems believe should be spent on community priorities. In particular LibDems want:
- More effective Planning Enforcement : some residents’ lives are blighted by the failure to enforce planning conditions or take action against unauthorised development. A plan is needed to clear backlogs and get effective action.
- · Cleaner Streets. At the moment money set aside for street cleaning is going unspent because of poor planning and staff management, so our streets are often dirty and unswept. This needs swift and effective action.
- · Community Facilities, including playgrounds, parks and toilets, to be brought up to the best possible condition before being handed over to the new council or parishes.
Finally, our precious council housing must be protected and retained for the use of residents of Tandridge within the new East Surrey Council area. In the longer term, we want to see council house building all across the new authority.
