Caterham Hill Parish Council has officially submitted an application to take ownership of the public toilets on Westway Common, as well as other local assets, from Tandridge District Council. This action follows growing concerns over the deteriorating state of these vital community facilities.

Cllr Sarah Sowambur states, “The Parish Council is concerned how the toilets have been allowed to fall into disrepair under TDC’s management. In light of the upcoming local government reorganisation, which will bring significant changes to the structure and delivery of services, the Parish Council has decided to take proactive steps to ensure such neglect does not continue.”

By applying for the transfer of these assets, the Parish is demonstrating its commitment to local ownership and accountability. Cllr James Rujbally adds, “Once the transfer is complete, the Parish will be responsible for protecting local services, ensuring they are safe, clean, and accessible for all residents for years to come.”
