There has long been concern about traffic safety around Weald Way, Gravelly Hill, War Coppice Road, and Tupwood Scrubbs Road, and recent accidents have backed up these concerns. Cllr Annette Evans states, “Surrey County Council is very complacent about road safety on rural roads inside the M25; it’s almost as if they don’t believe that rural roads exist north of Oxted!”

County Cllr Jeffrey Grey mentions, “I have used my own allocation this year to commission speed surveys across these four roads. I am pleased to say that the surveys support a lowering of the speed limit across this whole area.” New limits are due to be implemented in the 2025/26 municipal year, which starts this month.
