Safer Junction Coming to Whyteleafe After Lib Dem Campaign

A22 and Well Farm Road

Whyteleafe residents are set to see long-awaited improvements to the dangerous junction of Godstone Road and Well Farm Road. A new design will finally allow a safe right turn onto the A22 – something campaigners have been demanding for years.

The scheme was first proposed by former Liberal Democrat councillor Jeffrey Gray, who pushed tirelessly to highlight the danger. Thanks to his persistence, the plan has now been reassessed and will be delivered before May 2027.

Prospective Liberal Democrat councillor Tony Pearce has welcomed the breakthrough:

“As a former cabbie, I know the one thing road users need is clarity. For too long the ‘no right turn’ has been unenforceable. Redesigning the junction to make it safe is just what Whyteleafe needs.”

The changes will be rolled out as part of a package that also includes a speed limit cut to 30mph from South Whyteleafe up to Wapses Lodge – another long-standing demand from local people.

Tony added:

“With all the new development in South Whyteleafe, this is now a busy residential area. Traffic rules need to keep up, and residents have been asking for this for a long time. I’ll keep pressing for safer roads and fairer services across Whyteleafe.”

The Liberal Democrats have shown they can deliver practical improvements that make a real difference to local people’s lives. Now, with the Whyteleafe by-election just weeks away, Tony Pearce is ready to carry on that work as the area’s new councillor.
